It’s Wednesday! So, it’s time to guess what this is a photograph of…
My Morning
I’ve been kind of obsessed with the reflections of the fall colors this season. Visiting Stone Mountain Parks several times a week for the past few weeks, I have been watching the leaves turn. I have found a spot along the lake that I keep returning to at different times of day to see how the position of the sun affects the reflection of the trees in the water. This morning I captured the following images of the reflections. The header on my blog was also captured this morning.
GTC Holiday Portraits
After many hours of hard work the GTC Holiday Portrait set was ready on Monday. One of the families we photographed on Monday has had their holiday portraits taken at GTC every year for the past 18 years! Would be cool to see their photo album with the different sets through the years.
See our website for the dates and times we will be photographing.
Photographing Dance
Photographed dance this weekend. It was beautiful watching the graceful dancers. Several times I caught myself just watching the show and had to remind myself to shoot. One of the challenges of photographing dance was the frequent change in lighting. I had to shoot with a very high ISO and and constantly adjust the shutter speed and aperture to get enough light but not blown out the image. The following is one of my favorite shots. Even though it is overall very dark I like the rim light on the dancer. I am hoping to be able to practice photographing ballet dancers in a studio setting where I can control the lighting.

Fall Reflections at Stone Mountain Park
I’ve always loved the way Stone Mountain is reflected in the lake below it. This is the first time I’ve shot the reflection of the mountain and not had the mountain itself in the photograph. I thought the reflection of the fall trees was interesting but wanted a bit of of the tree line to ground the image and give the eye a resting place.
Smokies in Color
This is my favorite shot from my trip to the Smokies last year. It’s definitely out of the norm for me being abstract: I’m pretty much a realist but I do like this one. It’s simply a slow shutter speed and some movement with the camera. What I like most about it is the color… it would be a very different image had it not been fall.
